Match the Red Ball was a promotional game issued by the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company. The first version was released in 1966; the second version was released in 1967. This was a collect-and-win game with instant winners. With each visit to a participating Atlantic gas station, customers received a game envelope. The envelopes contain a game piece; a slip of paper with one image (first version), or two images (second version). Each image is one-half of a cash or merchandise prize. The goal was to collect game pieces and try to match two halves of a prize in which case the player won that prize. There were also 'Instant Winner' game pieces in some envelopes in which case the player won a prize immediately. Prizes ranged from $1.00 cash to a new 1967 Ford Mustang (first version), or a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro (second version). All of the images below are from the second version of the game. |
