USAthletes was a promotional game issued by BP Products North America in 2012. This was an instant winner game with a sweepstakes element. The game consisted of a game card given to customers each time they visited a participating BP gas station and filled up with 10 gallons or more of gas. The game cards have a cover layer that peels off. When the cover is peeled off, the underlying print reveals one of two things; the word WINNER and the prize amount that the player had won, or a code that gave the player a chance to win a prize in the 'online game.' The online game was a sweepstakes. Players could enter their game card code at the game website, www.BPUSAthletes.com, for a chance to win a prize in the sweepstakes. The grand prize was a trip for two to London, with tickets to three olympic events, valued at $16,006. There are nine different game cards with a photo of a different athlete on each card. The photo is printed on the peel-off layer which was typically peeled off and discarded. BP did not advertise the cards as 'collectible' but they did encourage players to "Look for all 9." Peeling off the top layer (to see if you were a prize winner) effectively destroyed the game card, which was usually thrown away. This explains why even the common game cards are seldom seen. The nine athletes featured on the cards are as follows:

The following printed cards are not part of the BP promotion. They are related and were produced by Topps. These are trading cards that were inserted in Bloomberg and Businessweek magazines. The cards feature the same TEAM USA athletes as the BP game cards but are not part of the game.
